Following a lengthy and thorough piloting of the UKASFP scheme we have achieved our best hopes of being able to start to accredit members of the UKASFP. We recognise that some members may seek accreditation appropriate to their career and occupational aspirations, and that accreditation may not be a priority, or appropriate, for others.
We have started at Practitioner Level and, as of July 2011, six members have become UKASFP Accredited Practitioners - congratulations to them and many thanks to the Assessors. There are quite a number of other members who wish to be accredited at Practitioner Level, so we will accredit them first and then we will move on to Trainer and Supervisor Levels. In due course we will accredit those members who wish to be UKASFP Accredited Therapists.
As an Association, we are seeking to ensure that our system of accreditation is as robust as it possibly can be. In September 2011 the Committee agreed to set up a process for Appeals and to review our Code of Ethics in the light of developmnents in Accreditation. We would like to acknowledge the work of previous committees which has meant that progress towards our preferred future has been possible in regard to Accreditation.
As the Committee member who has oversight of Accreditation – in terms of facilitating the various aspects of the process - I would like to invite further members of the UKASFP who are interested to apply for accreditation at Practitioner Level. Please click on ‘Documents’, then ‘Accreditation’ for further guidance.
Questions, clarification and submission of applications (including fees which have been increased to reflect the work involved by the Association and the Assessors) should be addressed to me, Paul Avard, in the first instance.
Please contact me through the committee contact list. I will then let you have my postal address and answer any queries you may have. I will need two hard copies of applications and supporting evidence.
Good Luck to you all.
Paul Avard MA - UKASFP Accredited Practitioner
